We’re really excited to be able to finally announce the title of our new album.

Recently we’ve started giving clues on the website about our concept album. As you might have noticed our concept album is going to be based on a comic book series, written by Steven O’Connell (BloodRayne & Dark 48). We’ve asked comic artist Romano Molenaar (Witchblade, Darkness and X-men) to draw the characters and scenery.

The new album and comic will be titled: “The Unforgiving”.

On this album, we’ve taken a totally different approach. Each song on “The Unforgiving” was written along Steven’s narrative. The main characters of the comic are reflecting the characters of our songs. The concept pushed us and gave  inspiration to come up with a new approach in our sound. It resulted in writing our best songs so far.

We have been big comic fans since our childhood. With this album we felt the time was there to take a new step in our creative development, take it further and broaden our horizon. Next to the concept form of the album, the songs are more divers than ever before. In addition, the music of the late 80ies, that’s when we started to read comic books, certainly has left a mark on our new sound.

The album is set for release in March 2011, but our loyal visitors knew this already ;-)

    Soooo excited!!! I’m wondering if the release date is the same here in Canada, because when I bought THOE I was in the US, I had to buy it in Haarlem, NL on vacation because it hadn’t been released in the US yet. Absolutely can’t wait, it sounds awesome!!! :D

    Is this serious? I mean, I love the hole concept thing, but I’m going to miss so much the “the silent force” sound, I love the choirs and the orchestral arrangements, and now I feel I won’t hear them again…;( but I’m pretty sure though,

    This photosession strongly reminds me of a combination of 80′s pop (Wham, Duran-Duran etc) and modern alternative-post rock! :) Saying this, and since I also was a teen during the 80s (altough more of a metalhead), I am very curious and excited about the posibillities of a new sound!

    WT seems very confident and excited about this new album. to be honest i dont quite share this excitement cause when i hear WT the first thing that comes in my mind is choir and orchestra. Now its all different. for sure i’ll be surprised hopefully it will be a good surprise hehe. Good luck guys!

    Great news – a new album !!! Please play some dates in the UK OUTSIDE of the big cities…….. the last time we tried to see you Bristol, I was turned away at the door because of my wheelchair – something to do with ‘health & safty !!!     Hmmm…I’ve never heard of that comic before (maybe because I’m in America?) the only funnies I’ve read are in the paper (read’em every Sunday before church) BUT I hope that I will be able to read the comics to understand the songs… :) )

    You should consider trying to play concerts at comic cons to support this album. That could introduce you to a new audience, especially in the US. For example, 140k people attended Comic Con in San Diego this summer.

    Anyway, can’t wait for the new album.

    That sounds awesome. A concept album seems like a natural progression after the tremendous one-two punch of Silent Force and The Heart Of Everything. And the idea that it’s a graphic novel is even better. I can’t wait.

    I think I will probably die in march when the album comes out. It’s probably going to take a million years after it comes out for me to get it! Loving how its a concept album though and that it’s based on a comic book. Hopefully I will be able to get the comics as well. SO HAPPY CAN’T WAIT! Yay!!!!

    I’m deeply sailing within this extracted from “The Unforgiving” song “Where Is The Edge” after many years of wholeheartedly waiting for it & do love it and learnt to sing it (…almost together with the actors voices). As very old fan of Within Temptation, I believe I am always familiar with the fact Within Temptation’s upcoming music is always a wonderful synonym of grand development and spring air challenges which are always well-welcome. “The Unforgiving” will be a wonderful surprise and I can’t wait come October 2011 and the dream of my life to become a wonderful reality again!
