Coliseum or Coliseu de Lisboa is situated downtown, at Rua (Street) das Portas de Santo Antão, 96. It was founded on August 14, 1890, to suppress the lack of other concert halls, which had been closing in Lisbon.
Beside musical concerts, other shows are hosted there, including theater, circus, dance shows and awards’ ceremonies. Other performance acts include Cirque du Soleil, Tango Fire, and several ballet shows.
